Sea Oak is a fictional coastal village where life moves a little slower, neighbors still know one another, and ordinary lives are worth writing about.The Whimsy Letter Society began there in 1917, or at least, that's how the story goes. More than a century later, Sea Oak postmistress Erma Finch has uncovered the old Society ledger and decided it might be time to begin again.Through letters, you'll meet Erma and the other residents of Sea Oak. You'll hear about their friendships, families, gardens, businesses, disagreements, joys, losses, and all the wonderfully ordinary things that make up a life.
I am creating the Society for anyone who misses the simple pleasure of receiving something meaningful in the mail—and who might enjoy stepping away from the noise for a while and into a world of front porches, handwritten notes, community, nature, and very human stories.The physical Whimsy Letter Society is planned to open in November 2026. Until then, I am sharing the process of building Sea Oak, creating its residents, and bringing the Society to life.I am so glad you found your way here.There is always room for one more in Sea Oak.
